Practical guide
From telemetry to decisions: what to ask of an IoT platform
Evaluate data, dashboards, alerts and access before connecting your operation to the cloud.
Vista Tech ·

An IoT platform becomes useful when it connects device information with the work people do. Before evaluating a screen or dashboard, define what data each team needs, what decisions it will make and which systems it already uses.
Start with the data journey
Describe which sensor generates the information, how it reaches the platform and which identifiers link it to a site or asset. Define units, timestamps and the context that needs to be preserved. Also consider how you will identify missing data or readings that need review.
Design dashboards and alerts for a responsible person
A dashboard should answer specific operational questions. Define views by site, zone, customer or asset and the reports required. For each alert, agree on the rule, recipient and escalation path. The goal is to turn information into an action with clear ownership.
Include access and integrations in the project
Define who can view and manage data and what information must be exchanged with other systems. VistaTech Cloud brings together device and network management, data normalisation, dashboards, alerts, analytics, access control and integrations. Discussing these requirements helps focus a demonstration on your operation.
Before you start
- Which teams need the data, and what decisions will they make?
- Which alert requires action, and who will handle it?
- Which permissions and integrations must the pilot validate?
